You and the other driver need to exchange information after the collision. This information is necessary for getting fair compensation from an insurance company, or in a settlement if the case goes to trial. Write down their name, contact information, driver’s license number, make and model of vehicle, and their insurance carrier and policy number. Also write down the time of day, weather conditions, and any other detail of the accident. If possible, take photos of any damage and of the accident scene.
